In Wednesday’s (1/17) St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Jane Henderson writes, “The St. Louis County Library is providing vouchers to a performance of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The effort targets those who have never seen an orchestra concert before. The partnership between the two entities aims to introduce classical music to a broader audience… The library … started handing them out on Jan. 17. Kristen Sorth, library director & CEO, said … ‘This collaboration with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra aligns perfectly with our mission to support the community by providing access to a wide range of cultural experiences. This partnership will connect patrons to an incredible St. Louis institution, fostering a love for music that will resonate for years to come.’… The voucher is good for two tickets to a concert or four tickets to a family concert for first-time orchestra attendees…. The orchestra approached the library [about the tickets] … Depending on interest in the vouchers this season, they might be offered again next season and possibly at the St. Louis Public Library, says Eric Dundon, public relations director for the orchestra…. Most of the remaining classical concerts will have tickets available for the vouchers.”
